A Life Dedicated to Cars

Cars are the magic carpets of reality… And imagining a life without them is like imagining a void.

Why does Jim McMillan Collect Cars?

People who have come to my humble abode have frequented me with questions about my fascination with cars, especially the ones that have a touch of vintage elegance to them!

One of the primary reasons for such inquiries is my delightful display of old cars in the extended part of the house. Whether it is a Mercedes-Benz 230SL (1963 to 1971), a Pontiac Firebird (1993 to 2002), or a Honda S600 (1964 to 1970), I have had a few handsome models up my sleeve.

Many visitors admire my collection, and even more, are eager to hear the story of how I developed a taste for it! With such reactions from admirers around me, it seems only fitting to spill the beans. So, here I go…

I was in possession of Hot Wheels when I was nothing more than a wee little lass and I was extremely captivated by the models and the colours of those miniature automobiles. Seeing my excitement for the toys, my grandpa made a point to present me with a new one every birthday and enthralled me with a different car story every time I visited him. By then, I had already developed a craving to own unique cars, especially the old ones.

As I reached adulthood, I began working at a car collector’s house. Every time I walked through the door to the hallway, my eyes gleamed with joy. Oh, how delightful it was to witness those vehicles standing in all their might and glory. As days passed, I became firm in my ground to collect vintage automobiles, and from then until today, I have acquired over 50 models!
